about

The Owlz is the brain child of woodwind wild man Ben Golder-Novick (AKA Ben The Sax Guy) and guitar guru Anton Vittal. After an impromptu gig at the Astor Room in June of 2015, these two cool cats decided that this would become an official jazz duo. They immediately developed a unique repertoire of over a hundred songs, ranging from gypsy jazz, blues, bebop, and surf rock. They have even written ten songs of their own, developing their own unique, edgy style. The Owlz play regularly at restaurants, night clubs, and private events all over Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Their debut album showcases their unique sound and it also gives quite a glimpse as to what it is like at a live show. Golder-Novick and Vittal are joined by Dmitry Ishenko on upright bass for most of the songs. There are also four songs which feature Tom Pietrycha on upright bass. The Owlz brought in special guests Robyn Adele Anderson on vocals and Alex MacDonald on tap dance. These guests regularly perform with Golder-Novick in the critically acclaimed traveling circus that is "Postmodern Jukebox."
